Our take on the “What For?” of ChangeMakers was hearteningly congruous:
• to help myself and others to recognise our personal social justice visions
• to get support for my voluntary efforts as a more active citizen
• to support others in their choices in working for the common good
• a place to float questions about the why, how, who, where and when regarding people’s ideas for social justice
• to deepen my skills and effectiveness in taking initiative for social justice
• recognising that the focus for the change process needs to be on the personal
• discussing and consciousness-raising around the background causes of problems with a view of finding individual solutions
• a place to learn how to work better with others
• a space to listen, think and hear what is being said between the words
• a place to respect individual ideas without aiming to push a particular barrow or try to convince
